Faridabad, Mar 20 (PTI) Haryana Additional Director General of Police Hardeep Singh Doon on Friday highlighted the vital role CCTVs play in curbing crime and called for a campaign to install cameras in the Faridabad district.
The ADGP (Telecommunications), while reviewing crime in a meeting at the Faridabad police commissioner’s office, said that a special campaign should be launched at the police station level to install as many CCTV cameras as possible here.
He added that police should also identify hotspots to control crime.
According to an official statement, Doon directed all SHOs to identify individuals involved in illegal drug use in their areas and take action against them.
All SHOs should also take measures to control vehicle accidents in their areas, he added.
“Instead of merely identifying hotspots as a formality, we should ensure that these areas remain crime-free in the future,” the ADGP said.
The ADGP said all investigating officers should receive training to monitor the activities of criminals released on bail, Doon said.
During the meeting, DCP (headquarters) Abhishek Jorwal presented a report on CCTV cameras, comparative crimes, new criminal laws, drug de-addiction campaign, traffic black spots, areas with high crime incidence and record of criminals. PTI COR SHS
