New Delhi: The Digital Life Certificate (DLC) Campaign 3.0, launched by the Department of Pensions & Pensioners’ Welfare on 6 November, has seen significant success in its second week, generating over 77 lakh digital life certificates nationwide, a PIB release stated. The campaign, which aims to digitally empower pensioners, is being held from 1 to 30 November, in 800 cities and towns across India.

This initiative, driven by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Jeevan Pramaan,” has witnessed active participation from various stakeholders, including pension disbursing banks, the Department of Pensions and Pensioners Welfare, Controller General of Defence Accounts, Ministry of Railways, Department of Telecom, Department of Posts, IIPB, UIDAI, and Pensioners Welfare Associations, the release said.

The campaign has facilitated the submission of DLCs by over 1,77,153 pensioners above 90 years old and 17,212 pensioners between 80 to 90 years old from the comfort of their homes or offices.  The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare has deployed 1.8 lakh postmen across the country to assist pensioners in generating DLCs.

Key highlights of the campaign include four mega camps organized in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, with the participation of Secretary PPW, who encouraged pensioners to adopt digital modes of submitting life certificates. Maharashtra took the lead with over 10 lakh certificates generated, followed by Tamil Nadu and West Bengal with 6 lakh each. Uttar Pradesh also performed well with over 5 lakh DLCs.

SBI and PNB led the campaign by generating over 9 lakh DLCs each, followed by Canara Bank and Central Bank of India with 1 lakh and 57,000 DLCs respectively.
