Madurantakam/Dharapuram, Oct 2 (PTI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, DMK president M K Stalin and AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami are all set to campaign on Friday for the October 6 bypolls.

As the campaign intensifies for the high-stakes bypolls in Madurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies, TVK founder Vijay will hold a roadshow at Madurantakam near Chennai in the evening.

Vijay days ago held rallies in Madurantakam and Dharapuram, seeking votes for the party nominees, Maragatham Kumaravel and P Sathyabama respectively.

Former chief minister Stalin will launch his campaign at Dharapuram in western Tamil Nadu, while party leaders Udhayanidhi Stalin and Kanimozhi have already been campaigning for the bypolls in the two segments.

DMK’s I Paranthaman and S Suganya are in the fray in Madurantakam and Dharapuram respectively.

AIADMK chief Palaniswami will also campaign at Dharapuram and hold a roadshow there.

Kanitha Samptah and K Bhanumathi are the AIADMK candidates in Madurantakam and Dharapuram respectively.

The bypolls were necessitated as legislators Maragatham Kumaravel and Sathyabama quit their MLA posts and also their memberships from the AIADMK and subsequently, joined the ruling TVK and allegations of horse-trading is a key electoral issue. PTI VGN VGN KH

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
