Ranchi, Apr 6 (PTI) Leader of Opposition in the Jharkhand assembly Babulal Marandi on Monday said the BJP’s politics is guided by the principle of “nation first”, with the party prioritising the interests of the country and its people.

Addressing the BJP’s 47th foundation day programme at the party’s state headquarters here, Marandi said a strong nation could be built only by a strong BJP.

“The BJP does politics for the country and its people. The mantra of ‘nation first’ remains the top priority for every party worker,” he said.

He described the journey from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh to the BJP as inspiring and rooted in struggle.

“The struggle-filled journey of the Jan Sangh and the BJP has been aimed at making India a ‘vishwaguru’ (global leader) once again. Only a strong BJP can build a powerful nation,” he said.

BJP workers are celebrating the foundation day across the state, with programmes scheduled from April 5 to April 12 at the mandal, panchayat, block and district levels.

State BJP president Aditya Sahu said the party’s growth was the result of the dedication and hard work of its workers.

“The BJP is a party of committed workers built on a strong ideological foundation. Its present stature is the outcome of the relentless efforts of crores of party workers. While pursuing the goal of ‘antyodaya’ (the upliftment of the last person), the party is moving forward towards building an ‘atmanirbhar bharat’ (self-reliant India),” he said.

Meanwhile, the state Congress criticised the BJP, alleging that it has deviated from its founding principles.

“The BJP has moved away from its core principles of nationalism, good governance and transparency. Its politics today is limited to division, polarisation and centralisation of power,” Congress general secretary Rakesh Sinha alleged. PTI SAN SAN SOM
