New Delhi, Apr 28 (PTI) Chief Minister Rekha Gupta participated in the BJP’s ‘Mashal Juloos’ (torchlight procession) at Connaught Place on Tuesday to support the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.
She said women members are angry with parties that defeated the women’s reservation bill in the Lok Sabha.
Several BJP leaders, including Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, Lok Sabha MPs Kamaljeet Sehrawat and Bansuri Swaraj, attended the protest march along with many of the party’s women leaders and workers.
“The women are on the streets for their rights, and they will not rest until they get it,” Gupta said.
There is “resentment and anger” among the women, and they want answers from those leaders who voted against the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam amendment Bill.
Gupta asserted that the fight for the enhanced representation of women in the state legislatures and Parliament will conclude.
She said women are not prepared to plead for their rights; instead, they are ready to fight.
