BJP minister Giriraj Singh now shares ‘lemon pepper fish’ recipe, says it delays ageing

Fisheries Minister Giriraj Singh tweeted that lemon pepper fish keeps brain healthy & reduces effects of ageing. His dept had earlier tweeted that fish therapy helps fight depression.

New Delhi: After endorsing fish therapy to fight depression, Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Giriraj Singh Friday posted a recipe of lemon pepper fish, saying it delays ageing and boosts brain health.

“Lemon Pepper Fish — a perfect dinner for Friday night! Furthermore, it delays ageing and boosts brain health. Also, it helps in improving memory-related functions of the brain,” the Ministry of Fisheries posted from its official Twitter handle.

The ministry also attached a video of the lemon pepper fish recipe with its tweet.

Singh quote-tweeted the post writing a similar message in Hindi along with hashtag ‘First4Poshan’.

“Lemon Pepper Fish — This keeps the brain healthy and reduces the effects of aging. In addition, it also helps in improving memory. #Fish4Poshan,” the minister wrote.

Poshan Abhiyan is the Narendra Modi government’s ambitious nutrition scheme.

Not the first time

The Department of Fisheries, under the Ministry of Fisheries, had on 15 September tweeted an image of a 2015 media report on ‘fish therapy’ that could help people “curb depression risk”.

The Modi government has given increased importance to the fisheries sector, creating a separate Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, after coming to power for a second term.

The fisheries department earlier functioned under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

On 10 September, PM Modi launched a Rs 20,050-crore Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana in 21 states, including Bihar, which aimed to double fisheries exports, creating more employment opportunities and boosting the income of farmers. 

Launching the scheme, the PM had said the goal was to double fish exports in the next three to four years.

The BJP had also launched a social media campaign earlier this month to promote the Poshan Maah
