Ranchi, Apr 14 (PTI) The BJP on Tuesday held a march in Ranchi in support of the Women’s Reservation Act.
The march began at Aryabhata Auditorium and culminated at Bapu Vatika in Morabadi.
Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth said the objective of the march was to spread the message of women’s empowerment, equal rights and their increasingly decisive role in society.
He said that 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies would bring “new energy, discipline and commitment” to legislative bodies.
Earlier in the day, a conference on ‘Nari Shakti Vandan’ was organised at the auditorium to recognise the role of women leaders from panchayats to Parliament in the country’s development.
In September 2023, Parliament passed the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’, commonly known as the Women’s Reservation Act, that provided for the reservation of one-third of seats for women in the Lok Sabha and legislative assemblies.
The conference aimed to reinforce the commitment to greater participation of women in shaping India’s development trajectory. PTI RPS RPS SOM
