New Delhi: A Chinese woman, suspected of spying on Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, was detained in Bodh Gaya Thursday, the police said.
Additional Director General (Headquarters) J. S. Gangwar said the woman was being interrogated to check if she could have been a threat to the Dalai Lama, who is in Bodh Gaya at present.
Earlier in the day, a senior Gaya officer said that they had intelligence for the last two years about a Chinese woman living in the city. The possibility of her being a spy could not be ruled out, he said.
Bihar Agriculture Minister Sudhakar Singh said Thursday that a sketch of the woman had been released and that he was personally monitoring the situation in Gaya. We assure that the Dalai Lama’s security will be maintained,” Singh said.
