Bengaluru, Sep 21 (PTI) A passenger who arrived at the Kempegowda International Airport here from Vietnam was arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle two kg of hydroponic ganja valued at Rs 70 lakh, officials said.
The ganja was concealed in the cabin baggage, the Bengaluru Customs said in a post on ‘X’.
In a series of posts, the Bengaluru Customs on Monday shared details of its recent arrests made following seizure of narcotic substances and gold ornaments at the airport here, without revealing the identities of the accused in the respective cases.
According to officials, a passenger who arrived on Monday from Kuala Lumpur was intercepted and subsequently arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle 559.4 grams of gold, valued at Rs 81.47 lakh, by concealing it in baggage, undergarments and on the body.
On September 19, a passenger who arrived from Bangkok at the airport here was held for attempting to smuggle 15.3 kg of hydroponic ganja, valued at Rs 5.35 crore, by concealing it.
In another incident on the same day, two other passengers who arrived from Bangkok were held for allegedly attempting to smuggle 26.8 kg of ganja, valued at Rs 9.38 crore, by concealing it.
“On September 19, Bengaluru Customs intercepted a passenger who arrived from Abu Dhabi and attempted to smuggle 642 grams of gold ornaments, valued at Rs 93.78 lakh, by concealing them. The accused was arrested under the Customs Act,” the Bengaluru Customs said, in another post. PTI AMP ROH
