Kolkata, Jan 18 (PTI) Bengali writer Sujan Dasgupta, the creator of the popular detective character ‘Ekenbabu’, was found dead at his residence here on Wednesday, a family member said.

Dasgupta, 80, is survived by wife, daughter and two grandchildren.

Police had to break open the door of his apartment in Survey Park area, after there was no response when the maid turned up in the morning.

He was later declared dead by a doctor.
