Amaravati, April 25 (PTI) The APSDMA has warned of severe heatwave and heatwave conditions in several mandals across Andhra Pradesh on Saturday.
Severe heatwave is likely to impact 14 mandals, including those in Srikakulam and Parvathipuram Manyam districts, while heatwave conditions are expected in 28 mandals across Vizianagaram, Manyam, Alluri, Polavaram, Kakinada, East Godavari and Eluru districts.
“Severe heatwave and heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in several mandals across the state today,” Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) Managing Director Prakhar Jain said in a press release.
Jain further said that maximum temperatures are likely in North Andhra and Rayalaseema districts, while people have been advised to take precautions against heat waves, extreme heat and humidity.
Meanwhile, Jain noted that on Friday, temperature above 41 degrees Celsius were recorded in 207 mandals across 22 districts.
High temperature records include 45.2 degrees Celsius in Salur in Manyam district, 43.7 degrees in Nandikonda in Kurnool district, 43.6 degrees in Gospadu in Nandyal district, and 43.5 degrees in Terannapalli in Anantapur district.
Temperature also touched 43.4 degrees in Bobbili in Vizianagaram district and Yerraguntla in Kadapa district, 43.3 degrees in Devarapalle in Anakapalli district, 43.1 degrees in Anumalapalli in Markapuram district, and 42.9 degrees in Karapa in Kakinada district and Bestapalli in Tirupati district.
Further temperatures included 42.8 degrees in Gandiganumala in Palnadu district and Kommipadu in Nellore district, 42.7 degrees in Kukkunur in Eluru district, Kunavaram in Polavaram district and Kothuru in Srikakulam district, and 42.5 degrees in Rayalapeta in Chittoor district.
The APSDMA advised people to take precautions, wear protective gear, avoid exposure to heat, and consume sufficient lemon water, buttermilk, coconut water and drinking water, while farmers were cautioned against taking shelter under trees during thunderstorms. PTI MS ADB
