Amaravati, Apr 2 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday directed officials to clear pending dues to employees inherited from the previous YSRCP government and initiated release of dues amounting to Rs 7,358 crore.

During a review with the finance department, the chief minister enquired about pending payments to serving and retired government employees and issued directions for expediting their clearance.

“We have initiated steps to clear long-pending dues inherited from the YSRCP government and provide relief to employees. All dues will be cleared systematically based on fund availability,” Naidu said in an official release.

Officials informed Naidu that over Rs 1,800 crore towards provident fund dues has been credited directly into employees’ accounts and Rs 76 crore disbursed under group life insurance covering nearly 4,800 beneficiaries.

Further, payments in progress include Rs 3,411 crore towards gratuity dues, Rs 1,800 crore towards leave encashment for retired employees and Rs 223 crore towards additional surrendered leave dues for police personnel, it said.

These payments are expected to be completed within the next two days, providing significant financial relief to employees across departments, the release said.

The CM alleged that diversion of employee funds under the previous regime had caused hardship, and those raising concerns had reportedly faced legal harassment.

He also reviewed pending payments to contractors and material suppliers, with officials stating that Rs 614 crore has already been cleared to small contractors. Naidu directed that pending bills of small contractors must be cleared on a priority basis. PTI MS KH
