Bhopal, Oct 2 (PTI) Ahead of Union Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Madhya Pradesh, the Opposition Congress on Friday sought answers from him on the deaths of tribal children in Balaghat and Chhindwara, the liquor tragedy in Sagar and water contamination in Indore.
Shah is scheduled to arrive in Bhopal on Friday night, and he will take part in various state-level programmes related to the departments of Home, Cooperation, Animal Husbandry, Dairy, and Higher Education on Saturday.
Since Shah is visiting Madhya Pradesh, he should answer these questions and ensure the state government’s accountability, MP Congress president Jitu Patwari told reporters.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav should also provide clear answers to the public regarding issues plaguing the administrative systems, health services, tribal welfare, and law and order, he said.
“Incidents such as the deaths of innocent children, loss of lives due to spurious liquor, and fatalities caused by contaminated water raise questions about the government’s accountability. People of Madhya Pradesh want accountable governance, not a blame game,” he said.
“Transparent investigations and time-bound action are essential in cases involving the deaths of children, issues in tribal areas, suspected spurious liquor, contaminated drinking water, and administrative negligence,” Patwari added.
Umang Singhar, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s so-called ‘double-engine’ government is taking the state towards destruction rather than development.
He also raised issues concerning the deaths of children due to infectious diseases in Balaghat, the deaths of over 25 people in the Sagar spurious liquor tragedy, and the deaths of children in Chhindwara caused by toxic cough syrup.
“Shah must answer for these tragedies and administrative failures. Amit Shah ji, as you reach out to the people of Madhya Pradesh today, will you answer these families? The people of the state are demanding an account of their plight and these deaths,” Singhar said. PTI MAS BNM
