New Delhi: The artificial intelligence chatbot introduced by the Delhi Police this year for use during the Delhi elections is bilingual and has been developed using election-related data banks available online. The national capital will go to polls on 5 February.

According to the police, this AI chatbot offers two solutions—‘Chunav Mitra’ and ‘Cyber Sarthi’. To ensure the smooth, efficient, and peaceful conduct of the elections and the execution of duties by all security personnel, including the Delhi Police and personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces, this AI chatbot is available in both Hindi and English.

The chatbot’s ‘Chunav Mitra’ disseminates information and guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Delhi Police.

“It provides quick and easy access to important guidelines, rules, and directives. It acts as a vital tool for field officers requiring immediate reference on a real-time basis while on duty,” Devesh Chandra Srivastava, special commissioner (crime) and state police nodal officer, told the media.

‘Cyber Sarthi’, on the other hand, aims to provide cyber security guidelines, according to the police. “This will ensure the safe use of digital platforms and other tools by the personnel on duty,” the special commissioner of the Delhi Police said.

Moreover, the chatbot has been built to cater to user-based needs and responses. To access the AI chatbot, security personnel on the ground simply need to click on the dedicated link and scan the QR code.

“The chatbot has been designed to serve multiple purposes simultaneously. Security personnel can access both solutions at the same time, either for cyber security or for assistance with the ECI guidelines. Additionally, the instructions are presented in a simplified manner,” a senior police officer, who wished not to be named, told ThePrint.

Srivastava said that the AI chatbot will also provide practical support to officers of all ranks while they are on assignment.

“This AI chatbot is intuitive and efficient, providing real-time responses to queries and enabling officers and personnel to access crucial, relevant data and information without any delay,” the special commissioner said.
