Lucknow, Apr 25 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday paid tributes to former chief minister Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna on his birth anniversary and said that Bahuguna’s vision of development is now being realised on the ground.

Adityanath offered flowers at Bahuguna’s statue here in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and several other dignitaries.

In a post on X, Adityanath said, “On the birth anniversary of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and former Union minister Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna, a significant pillar of Indian politics, I paid floral tributes to his statue in Lucknow today.” He said, “His commendable services as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and in various ministries of the central government continue to guide us even today.” Adityanath added, “The vision of development that he had is now being realised on the ground. I pay my respects to the sacred memory of Bahuguna.” Born on April 25, 1919, in Pauri Garhwal (now in Uttarakhand), Bahuguna took oath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in November 1973 in a Congress-led government and remained in office till November 1975.

A prominent figure in the freedom movement, Bahuguna’s son Vijay Bahuguna has served as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, while his daughter Rita Bahuguna Joshi has been active in Uttar Pradesh politics for a long time and has also served as a minister in the BJP government. PTI CDN AMJ AMJ
