New Delhi, Apr 21 (PTI) The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised a “Student Rights March” at Delhi University on Tuesday, with thousands of students pressing for a 12-point charter of demands on academic reforms, infrastructure and inclusivity.

The protest at the Faculty of Arts saw students from various colleges raise slogans against alleged administrative inaction.

ABVP demanded that the university be made “porta-cabin free” and that mandatory fire safety audits be conducted, especially after a recent fire at a bamboo porta-cabin at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma (ARSD) College highlighted infrastructure concerns amid rising student numbers.

Other demands include a reduction in fees for the five-year BA LLB (Hons) programme, conduct of supplementary examinations for final-year students, construction of new hostels and setting up of a centralised placement cell.

The organisation also called for free education for third-gender students and improved accessibility for persons with disabilities across campus infrastructure.

ABVP demanded implementation of a “One Course, One Fee” policy, student representation in the Academic Council, and better hygiene and food quality in college canteens.

ABVP Delhi State Secretary Sarthak Sharma termed the march a “decisive call” against the administration’s alleged indifference, saying a memorandum had been submitted and warning of intensified protests if “immediate positive steps” are not taken. PTI AHD ASD ASD
