New Delhi: Seven people died Tuesday in a helicopter crash in Phata, Uttarakhand while on their way to the Kedarnath Dham, said C Ravi Shankar, CEO of Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority.
7 people died in the crash. The incident took place around 11:40am. The chopper took place from Kedarnath and was heading towards Guptkashi. An administration team has been rushed to the spot for rescue work.
Phata is situated on the Gopeshwar-Gaurikund Road and is known for having a helipad.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami condoled the deaths and said the state disaster response force had reached the spot by early afternoon to carry out relief and rescue. “A detailed inquiry has been ordered into this tragic incident,” Dhami tweeted.
