Chandigarh, Apr 3 (PTI) A major fire engulfed four manufacturing units in the Kundli Industrial Area in Haryana’s Sonipat district on Friday though no one was injured in the blaze, police said.

The fire broke out in one unit and soon spread to the other three units, helped by a strong wind, they said.

It is suspected that an electrical short circuit triggered the blaze, though the exact reason will be ascertained after the investigation, police said.

About 17-18 fire tenders were rushed to the site, which brought the flames under control after several hours, they said.

“Four units were engulfed in the flames and it took many hours for the fire tenders to bring them under control. No one was injured in the incident,” local SHO Sethi Malik said.

The units manufactured home appliances such as coolers and fans, the SHO said.

A firefighter said they received a message about the fire at 4:45 am, following which teams were rushed to the spot.

Fire tenders from Delhi, Panipat, Rohtak and Jhajjar were also called to help douse the flames, he said. PTI SUN ARI ARI
