The central government Saturday felicitated 32 healthcare professionals for successfully completing B1 level of German language proficiency.

The event was attended by Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary, German Ambassador Dr Philipp Ackermann, Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary MSDE, and Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO, NSDC and MD, NSDC International.

The healthcare professionals were selected from a pool of candidates who had applied for the Skill India International programme. The programme offers a comprehensive training program of two to three months, with the target of placing Indian skilled workers in the healthcare sector in Germany.

The selected candidates have a chance to earn between 2,300 and 2700 euros per month. Their salary will increase to approximately Rs 3 to 4 lakh after completing the B2 training in Germany, said a statement by the Press Information Bureau (PIB).

This initiative not only cater to the skill gap but also offers the quality expected to meet the demands of the healthcare industry, said the German Ambassador to India Dr. Philipp Ackermann.

Minister of State (Independent Charge), Jayant Chaudhary, who interacted on the occasion, said India has a great demographic dividend and a growing skill gap. In a country like Germany, where the ageing population is also very high, there will be a need for about 18 lakh job opportunities for qualified candidates.

He said that the Skill India International programme is aimed at addressing the skills gap in Germany and India has a chance to play a key role in filling the gap, provided by the right approach.

NSEDC International, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has made significant progress in positioning India as a dependable source of skilled talent, said the minister.
