3 dead, 2 injured as car rams people waiting at bus stand in UP’s Hapur

Hapur (UP), Apr 16 (PTI) Three women were killed and two others, including a child, were injured after a speeding car rammed into people waiting at a bus stand here, police said on Thursday.

The incident occurred in the Hafizpur police station area near Murshadpur village, where a group of people were standing by the roadside waiting for a bus near a roadside eatery.

According to police, a speeding car lost control, climbed onto the divider and ploughed into the pedestrians.

Sitara (52), wife of Musab Ali, and Saroj Sharma (60), wife of Subhash, both residents of Brajnathpur village, died on the spot, they said.

Three others, Sharda (53), Ruby and a child, Lavish, were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Sharda died during treatment, they added.

Circle Officer Anita Chauhan said the bodies have been sent for post-mortem after completing inquest proceedings, while the injured are being treated.

Efforts are on to trace the driver, the CO said.
