Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai distributed Rs 2 lakh each to meritorious children from economically weaker sections at the second Jandarshan event held at his home on Thursday.

The public programme encourages people to submit their requests and appeals for redressal to the chief minister. Sai also planted a dehiman sapling in honour of his mother at the premises. This plant is known for its medicinal properties and is found in the Surguja region. Visitors also availed themselves of the health check-up services arranged.

Thirteen meritorious children were given financial assistance under the Mukhyamantri Noni-Babu Medhavi Shiksha Sahayta Yojana. This included Rs 1 lakh as incentive and Rs 1 lakh for purchasing scooters to commute to schools and colleges. These children topped the 2023-24 board exams for classes 10 and 12, and are from families of labourers.

The chief minister also appealed to the people join the “Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam” campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and plant a sapling in their homes or villages in honour of their mothers.

In the previous Jandarshan programme, a large number of applications were resolved on the spot or shortly after. Satisfied with the immediate resolution, many individuals attended Thursday’s event to personally thank Sai for the quick response.

These included differently abled individuals who were provided tricycles and other equipment on Sai’s instructions.
