Bengaluru, Oct 2 (PTI) Eleven people, including a woman, have been arrested for allegedly attempting to murder a man and assaulting two others in two separate attacks on the same day last month, police said on Friday.
The first incident occurred on September 20, when the complainant, Kiran, and his friend were standing at a vacant site on 6th Cross, Maramma Temple Road in Uttarahalli, police said.
According to a police statement, six to seven people arrived on motorcycles and allegedly attacked Kiran and his friend with daggers and other weapons.
Kiran was assaulted on his hand, the front and back of his head and his shoulder, allegedly with an intention to murder him, before the attackers fled. A case was registered at Subramanyapura police station on September 21.
Later the same day, Kiran was having food near Arehalli Arch on Uttarahalli Main Road when another group of six to seven people from the Gowdanapalya area allegedly arrived on motorcycles and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons and iron rods, assaulting both his hands, a senior police officer said.
When Kiran’s nephew intervened, the accused allegedly assaulted him too before fleeing, the officer said. A second case was registered at the same police station.
As the probe progressed, police pursued various leads and, acting on information from their sources, arrested 11 people, including a woman, between September 23 and 30, officials said.
During questioning, the accused allegedly admitted to their involvement and told police that the attacks were carried out due to previous enmity, officials said.
The accused were produced before a court, which sent seven of them to police custody for further interrogation, while four, including the woman, were remanded in judicial custody, police said.
Interrogation of the seven in police custody is under way, and the investigation is continuing, they added. PTI AMP SSK
