On 13 December 2001, five terrorists from LeT and JeM opened fire inside the Parliament complex, killing at least 10 people.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu and leaders from all political parties Friday paid tributes to the victims of the 2001 Parliament terror attack.

Among those present to pay homage to the victims on the 18th anniversary of the attack included Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP MP Pragya Thakur, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Rahul Gandhi.

On 13 December 2001, around 40 minutes after Parliament was adjourned, five heavily armed terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) opened fire inside the Parliament complex. Five Delhi Police personnel, a woman CRPF trooper, two Parliament watch and ward staff and a gardener were killed, while an injured journalist died later.
