New Delhi: A video showing a goods train bearing the stamp of the Adani Group of Industries passing through Allahabad went viral Saturday, with the message that it was an Indian Railways train purchased by the Adani Group and claiming that the Modi government had privatised India’s railways.
The video was shared with the caption, “Indian Rail is no more, now it is Adani Rail”. It has more than 2.1k likes and 1,300 retweets.

Fact check
The Indian government opened the railways to privatisation back in 2007 by allowing private operators to run container freight trains. In the same year, the Adani Group announced that it would be launching its container train operations.
The video now being circulated as a recent video, accusing the Modi government of privatising the railways, is actually an old one that dates back to 2013.
It was first shared by a user on YouTube as an Adani goods train passing by Asansol in West Bengal. The video that is being circulated now is both old and factually incorrect.
