New Delhi: Several social media users shared a photo of what appeared to be the front page of The New York Times, which had an image of a crocodile with the headline: India’s PM cried.

The tweet was also shared by Congress leader Digvijaya Singh Saturday.
“Dr Jaishankar ji now that you are going to US would you please ensure The New York Times does not spoil the image of Modi ji!! After all he is more worried about his IMAGE than worrying about the People suffering from COVID!! To him Crying at the right time is an Art!!,” Singh wrote. However, the tweet was deleted later.
The image was also shared on Facebook by several users who hit out at PM Narendra Modi, saying it’s an “international embarrassment for India.”

The image was not published by The New York Times, but by a satire website called The Daily New York Times. It was posted to Twitter Friday.
