BJP MP from Gujarat tweets images of a temple that is actually in the US and later deletes it.

New Delhi: BJP MP Vinod Chawda tweeted a picture Friday of what he believed would be the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi.

The lawmaker from Kachchh in Gujarat tweeted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate the temple—except the temple hasn’t even been built yet.

Modi will actually only lay the foundation for the first Hindu temple in the UAE during his trip to Palestine, Oman, and the UAE. Reports say the temple complex will have gardens and idols of Lord Krishna, Lord Maheshwara and Lord Ayyappa.

However, the pictures that are being widely circulated are from the US, of what is considered the most expensive Hindu temple ever built — the Lord Venkateshwara temple in New Jersey which is twice the size of Akshardham.

It also serves as an elaborate exhibition dedicated to Indian art and culture in the United States. Construction of this temple was completed in 2017.

Chavda later deleted his inaccurate tweet, but by that time several people had retweeted it, including Gujarat MLA Harsh Sanghavi. The images were also being shared extensively on messaging app WhatsApp.
