New Delhi: A video wrongly claiming that students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have raised ‘anti-Hindu’ slogans while agitating against the Citizenship Amendment Act has gone viral.
BJP’s IT cell in-charge Amit Malviya shared the video on Twitter Monday, saying that students at AMU were chanting ‘Hinduon ki kabr khudegi, AMU ki dharti par’ (Graves of Hindus will be dug on AMU’s land).
The video also had a text message on it, saying — “This is nothing but a clarion call for ethnic cleansing of Hindus”.
“If this is the mindset that pervades in these ‘minority’ institutions, imagine the plight of Hindus and other minorities in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan,” Malviya wrote.

The tweet had over 8,500 likes and 6,000 retweets at the time of publishing this report.
BJP’s Delhi IT cell co-convener Apurva Singh also shared the video with the hashtag #AAPBurningDelhi. Her tweet had over 4,500 likes and more than 3,000 retweets.
BJP’s Delhi unit spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga also shared the video and his post was shared over 9,000 times.

Another BJP leader Arvind Menon and national vice-president of BJP’s youth wing, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Santosh Ranjan Rai also tweeted the video, condemning the sloganeering.
Fact check
On carefully listening to the video, it has been found that AMU students were not chanting ‘Hinduon ki kabr khudegi’, as has been claimed, but ‘Hindutva ki kabr khudegi’.
Twitter users also pointed this out and called out Malviya for misleading people.

In February 2016, a video was widely shared on social media, claiming that JNU students had raised ‘Pakistan zindabad’ slogans. But on further investigation, it was found that the video was doctored.
