Gurugram: Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, one of the leading health centers in Gurugram, has reported the theft of expensive cancer treatment injections from its in-patient department (IPD).

The six missing injections, valued at Rs 7,62,473, are meant for critical cancer patients.

Based on a complaint filed by the hospital’s non-medical head, the DLF Phase 3 police station has registered an FIR and started the investigation.

ThePrint has accessed a copy of the FIR number 69 dated 5 March, under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to theft in sensitive locations like homes, places of worship, or transportation.

Jatin Negi, the non-medical head at the hospital, said in his complaint that during an audit of IPD pharmacy drugs in February, it was found that six different types of injections were missing. The missing injections with their maximum retail price were: Versavo (Rs 55,005), Entherto (Rs 1,67,069), Avastin (Rs 1,23,506), Erbitux (Rs 21,250), Biomab (Rs 65,643), and Innonza (Rs 3,30,000).

Negi suspected that a hospital staff could be behind the theft, as patients, their attendants, or outsiders might not be aware of the high cost of these injections.

The hospital administration has also checked CCTV footage but found no evidence of the theft, so far. The police have begun investigation.
