New Delhi: Indians have always been famous for their big fat weddings. But how many brides can say they had the King of Bollywood, and the ultimate poster boy of romance, Shah Rukh Khan saying “Teri aankhon ki namkeen mastiya, teri hasi ki beparvaah gustaakiyan, tere zulfon ki lehraati angdaaiyan nahi bhoolunga main….jab tak hai jaan” at their wedding?
A recent video posted by teamsrknepal and teamshahrukhkhan on Instagram showed SRK narrating these lines from this 2012 movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan as he kneeled on one knee, while the bride lived her fairytale moment.
Other dialogues SRK recited at the event included: Kaun kambakht bardasht karne ko peeta hai, hum toh peete hain ki yahan par baith sakein, tumhe dekh sakein, tumhe bardasht kar sakein” (from the 2002 movie Devdas); and ‘Hum ek baar jeete hain, ek baar marte hain, shadi bhi ek baar hoti hai, tum nahin samjhogi Anjali” (from the 1998 film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai).
Videos of Shah Rukh Khan dancing at a private wedding in Delhi have gone viral on platforms like X and Instagram. He is seen setting the stage and hearts on fire with some of his signature moves to his iconic tracks Chaiyya Chaiyya (from his 1981 movie Dil se), Jhoome jo Pathaan (from Pathaan, 2023).
One post on the platform X read, “Chaiya Chaiya is not just a song. It’s an emotion! And SRK is the heartbeat of it.”
SRK has not been performing in private events for a while. During the IIFA awards in September, Karan Johar asked the actor, “Aap pehle kaafi weddings shows karte the. Lekin aapne jana kyun bandh kar diya? (You used to do a lot of wedding shows earlier. Why did you stop it?”) To which the star replied, “Pehle main logo ke damaad ke umar ka tha. Ab main sasur ke umar ka ho gaya hoon. Begani shaadi mein abdullah deewana sa lagta hoon (Earlier I was the age of the groom. Now, I’m the age of the father-in-law. I feel out of place, like an odd man at someone else’s wedding).
Dressed in an all-black suit and sporting black shades and formal shoes, the 59-year-old actor performed enthusiastically with a smile, exuding suave, as the audiences cheered him on with claps, hoots, and whistles.
He was also seen interacting with his fans, waving or shaking hands and giving occasional selfies. In a video that resurfaced online, he is seen posing with his starstruck fans and cracks a joke saying, “Mujhe lagta hain mujhe filmo mein hona chahiye mein itna handsome lag raha hoon (I feel I should be in films. I look so handsome),” as fans giggled.
The star also took out a moment to bless the bride and groom. “Hamesha khush raho…. (always stay happy)….just be cool bro!.” He was also seen extending his warm gratitude toward the groom’s parents.
SRK is currently shooting for his next film, King, directed by Sujoy Ghosh, which is expected to release in late 2026.
As videos of his performance went viral, social media users remarked that his appearance resembled Anil Kapoor.
SRK’s wasn’t the only star performance at the wedding, although it sure did win hearts. Sara Ali Khan and Nora Fatehi were also seen as a part of the wedding celebrations. Sara Ali Khan performed to “Ladki Aankh Maarein,” while Nora Fatehi was seen dancing to “Naach Meri Rani.”
