New Delhi: Jana Nayagan, the final film of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, has grossed Rs 9.71 crore in opening-day advance bookings, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
The film has sold 2,45,607 tickets across 3,772 shows nationwide as of Monday afternoon, with Tamil Nadu accounting for the highest advance sales.
Tamil Nadu has contributed Rs 4.17 crore in advance bookings, followed by Karnataka with Rs 3.05 crore and Kerala with Rs 1.5 crore. Chennai has recorded the strongest demand so far, with more than 90 per cent of seats booked across 185 shows. Bengaluru has also seen brisk advance sales, contributing more than Rs 2 crore to the total.
Directed by H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan is set to release in cinemas on 23 July. The political action drama also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Priyamani and Gautham Vasudev Menon, with music by Anirudh Ravichander.
Producer K Venkata Narayana has said the makers are aiming for a release across 7,000 to 8,000 screens worldwide. Jana Nayagan is Vijay’s farewell to the big screen before his full-time political career.
