New York is in a flurry, and Swifties are panicking in hordes as streets shut down, celebs descend, and Madison Square Garden (MSG) gears up, allegedly for the big event.
In June, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani hinted that the wedding would take place in the city on the 4th of July weekend.
“We are the biggest city in the country. We are used to big events, and we are incredibly excited for this one. We know it coincides with the Knicks’ Finals run. We know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding—all happening at the same time—and we are so excited to welcome the world here,” Mamdani said during a press briefing. At the time, he also joked that while he was not invited to the wedding, he wished the couple “a lovely wedding.”
On 2 July, Mamdani hinted at the MSG being the venue for the wedding. When asked about the street closures similar to those that took place when the New York Knicks played at the stadium and the wedding taking place this weekend, Mamdani reminded New Yorkers to brave for a historic heatwave hitting the city.
“My recommendation to all New Yorkers is to stay inside and stay cool. And if you happen to be getting married at Madison Square Garden, you will be staying inside, and you will be staying cool. And I think it’s a good example to set for the city at large,” he said.

The venue itself now has a security tent outside with barricades along its periphery. Late last night, several SUVs were seen entering and exiting the stadium, reportedly ferrying guests for the rehearsal dinner.
According to Entertainment Tonight, a video shared by Selena Gomez yesterday while touching up her makeup in a car was the singer making her way to the dinner.
Taylor Swift’s long-time best friend, Abigail Anderson, was also spotted decked out near the venue.
ET also spotted Jack Antonoff, Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman, and footballer Ross Travis en route to the MSG.
Fans in the city have already flocked to the singer’s residence in the West Village, hoping to catch a glimpse of the bride-to-be and the pre-wedding celebrations.
One fan told CNN that they were doing a “Taylor Swift New York Tour.”
“We—me and Taylor and people our age—have grown up together, and so it’s like a really cool moment. I think that’s what brings everyone into it,” a fan said. The American multinational news outlet is also hosting a live blog closely following all updates on the wedding.
