New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan on Monday introduced his son, Aryan, through a hilarious teaser of the upcoming Netflix show The Ba***ds of Bollywood. Aryan is making his directorial debut with the series which is slated to be released this year.
In the teaser that has Aryan in the shadows directing his father, the actor is frustrated with the number of takes he is asked to give.
Shah Rukh Khan took to X to announce the show. “Picture toh saalon se baki hai par show toh ab shuru hoga. Witness Aryan Khan’s take on Bollywood… The Ba***ds of Bollywood, coming soon”.
Speaking at the Next on Netflix event, SRK said that he hopes the Indian public would shower his son and daughter with love.
SRK addressed the crowd at the event and said in Hindi, “Guzaarish aur bahut dil se main chaahunga ki mere bete jo apna pehla kadam rakh rahe hai direction mein, mere beti jo actress ban rahi hai, un sabko bhi 50 percent pyaar bhi agar ye duniya dede jitna mujhe diya hai toh bahut zyada hoga (I would want that my son, taking his first step into direction, and my daughter, becoming an actress, receive even 50% of the love the world has given me—it would be more than enough).”
Bollywood families take center stage
Bollywood father-son duos, families, and production houses ruled the unveiling of the upcoming lineup of shows, web series, and movies. It provided a glimpse into 25 titles across films, series, and unscripted programming, featuring several major Bollywood stars and much-awaited debuts. But the most awaited debut is that of Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, who is already making waves with his luxury collective brand, D’Yavol.
Another father-son duo that created a buzz was Saif Ali Khan and Ibrahim Khan. Saif Ali Khan took to the stage to unveil the first look and teaser of his latest movie, Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins. The heist drama also stars Jaideep Ahlawat of Paatal Lok fame and is directed by filmmakers Robbie Grewal and Kookie Gulati.
Khan also addressed his recent burglary scare: “It’s very nice to be standing here in front of you… it feels very nice to be here. I’m very excited about this movie. Siddharth and I have been talking about this for a long time. I’ve always wanted to do a heist film, and I couldn’t have asked for a better co-star,” said the actor.
Pathaan fame filmmaker Siddharth Anand is producing the upcoming feature with his wife, Mamta Anand, under their banner, Marflix Pictures. Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins reunites Anand and Saif after 17 years. The duo previously collaborated on Salaam Namaste (2005) and Ta Ra Rum Pum (2007).
Netflix also announced the debut of Khan’s son Ibrahim Khan in the rom-com *Nadaniyan*, also starring Khushi Kapoor. It is a modern tale about a South Delhi diva hiring a middle-class boy as her fake boyfriend. A new song from the movie, “Ishq Mein,” was also released. It is being produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment.
Debuts and exciting releases
Production giants Yash Raj Films and Dharmatic Entertainment also shared glimpses from their upcoming projects. YRF’s Akka, starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte, is set in Kerala and is written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty. It is being produced under YRF Entertainment. The thriller web series *Mandala Murders*, starring Vaani Kapoor and Vaibhav Raj Gupta, was also announced by the banner.
In unscripted content, Dining with the Kapoors offers unprecedented access to Bollywood’s first family, featuring multiple generations, including Ranbir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Saif Ali Khan. Vir Das also shared a glimpse of his new special, Fool Volume.
The event also marked the OTT debut of veteran actor Zeenat Aman in the romantic dramedy The Royals, starring Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter.
Netflix also reprised new seasons of its much-loved shows Delhi Crime and Kohrra, among other releases.
