Orry’s days turn hectic as Bollywood socialite tries living many lives in 24 hours

Orry seems unruffled by his detractors. I don’t think I need to set the record straight because whatever speculations people are making are not hurting me, he says.

Orhan Awatramani aka Orry is all over the internet and every generation is jealous of this “liver” who, in his words, is ‘living his life’. But beyond the glitz, glamour and social media humour, the celebrity is now admitting his days are extremely hectic.

While a meme said Orry is the nightmare of Infosys founder Narayan Murthy who recommended youngsters work 70 hours a week, the socialite himself is now saying it isn’t all play and no work for him.

“It looks hectic. I have about 106 hours in a day, I am living many lives in the 24 hour of my day,” he told ThePrint over phone.

Despite being everywhere, Orry has no complaints. He recently made a reel about the obsession over him and is enjoying the spotlight. “I cannot say I don’t like the attention. I love the memes. Actors watch themselves in movies and they have to be entertaining. I watch myself in memes and memes have to be entertaining,” he said.

While many judge him for ‘not doing anything’, Orry seems unruffled by the attention he is getting. “I dont think I need to set the record straight because whatever speculations people are making are not hurting me,” he said.

His biggest asset, it seems, is being able to have long conversations and interviews without really revealing anything. He does not even feel the need to intervene in the many stories and speculations surrounding him. If anything, him staying away gives more push to his image and content. All his recent reels have over a million views.

While many would wish for an Orry-like lifestyle, he knows he is the only one who owns the game. “If it was possible for one to become an Orry, then there would be others who would be quite or close to me, and since there are none, you really can’t become one,” said Bollywood’s latest celebrity who has been spotted partying with the likes of Kylie Jenner, Paris Hilton and Anne Hathaway to the Bollywood bigwigs.

Fame by association

When it comes to social capital, Orry is second to none in India. His selfie game is probably the strongest and he poses with everyone worth sharing the frame with. He is the ‘it’ celebrity. Reels to memes to every high-profile event, and even magazine cover, he is omnipresent.

He is an internet sensation that may have a longer shelf life. From ‘wink girl’ Priya Prakash Varrier to Chandni Bhabhda, who mimicked Alia Bhatt, becoming viral is not the toughest part. Staying relevant is.

Orry, who is simply famous by association, even stunned Salman Khan when he told the superstar about his work (rather the lack of it). He was a wild card entry on Bigg boss 17.

And yet, he is minting money.

“I get paid to get pictures clicked at the events with the pose that I do and post them. I earn Rs 20-30 lakh for these pictures for one night,” he said in an interview recently.

Spot the odd one out

A photo with Kylie Jenner put Orry on the celeb map, and later, with Jahnvi Kapoor. He is also friends with Isha Ambani.

Orry’s LinkedIn profile says he is a special projects manager at Reliance Industries Limited., and has been working with them since 2017. An alumnus of the Parsons School Of Design from where he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and Communication Design, by his own admission, he has done many jobs, from waitering to graphic designing. But it’s his signature pose with celebs that made him famous.

Orry started popping up on various social media platforms earlier this year. Seen hanging out with practically every Bollywood star kid, from Jahnvi and Khushi Kapoor to Nysa Devgan, and Ananya Pandey, he was the ‘spot the odd one out’. The curiosity of the internet grew.

Soon, bits and pieces started coming up, each news report like a new piece to the jigsaw puzzle that is Orry.

Today, the socialite knows his worth. Orry spelt out the requirements for being his friend in a recent podcast. “You have to be famous. If I am advertising the good times, babe, I am advertising the bad times. You click with me, I click with you. I am a marketing genius… Friendship is a complicated thing, it is not a simple thing like you liked my picture and I liked yours. It is beyond that. It’s – you have to look good in my pictures” he said.
