New Delhi: December’s Hindi box office has turned brutally one-sided. As Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar storms past Rs 1,000 crore in worldwide earnings and tightens its grip on Indian theatres, two other festive releases have been left gasping for space, screens, and audiences. Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 and Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, both launched with commercial intent and marquee names, have seen their box office prospects shrink rapidly, crowded out by a juggernaut that shows no signs of slowing down.
Dhurandhar has sailed past Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 and Chhaava to become the highest-grossing film of the year.
Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 and Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri have also had to contend with James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash. The third instalment of the epic saga has earned Rs 113.97 crore so far.

Damage control
Comedian Kapil Sharma is the headliner of Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, which released on 12 December. The film is on a slippery slope, as it has managed to earn only Rs 11.9 crore in two weeks since its release.
The makers of Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 have now announced that they will re-release the film in January in a bid to earn more. But January is also lined up with releases such as Dharmendra’s last film Ikkis, Aamir Khan Productions’ Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, Prabhas’ The RajaSaab, Vijay’s Jana Nayagan and the multi-starrer Border 2.
Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan-Ananya Pandey starrer Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri has earned Rs 10.12 crore in two days of its release. The number is dismal, considering the film is backed by Dharma Productions and registered only 16.31 per cent Hindi Occupancy on its release day on Christmas. Dhurandhar, on the other hand, earned Rs 26 crore on Christmas, registering an even better number than earnings from the previous three days.
Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri had earlier triggered a social media debate after the makers released a remixed track of the popular song ‘Saat Samundar Paar’ from Tridev (1989). Rajiv Rai, the director of Tridev, also filed a legal case over the unauthorised use of the song.
