New Delhi: Director Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge has released on 19 March in multiple languages across the country. The film’s paid previews were available a day earlier, and several prominent actors and filmmakers from Bollywood shared their thoughts about the sequel to the 2025 blockbuster.

Actor Preity Zinta tagged Dhar in a post on X and mentioned that he has turned her into a “fan girl”.

“Thank you for this incredibly immersive experience. Your skill, your talent and most of all your heart is in the right place”, she posted. The actor also shared a photo posing with fellow actor Arjun Rampal, who plays Major Iqbal in the film, along with casting director Mukesh Chhabra.

Director Madhur Bhandarkar praised Dhar and called the film a “blueprint” to making a powerful sequel. He also praised actor Ranveer Singh for his performance as the Indian spy Jaskirat Singh Rangi.

“Ranveer Singh is in a league of his own. I’m at a loss for words, his performance is just flawless. He doesn’t just act; he becomes the character with ferocious conviction. He deserves a National Award hands down,” wrote Bhandarkar, tagging the actor.

Telugu movie stars Allu Arjun and Vijay Deverakonda, too, watched the much-awaited sequel and shared effusive praise online.

“A film that will make every patriot proud. Many clap-trapping moments

BLAST,” wrote the Pushpa (2021) actor, congratulating the entire team.

“Tomorrow onwards – something big is going to happen in Indian cinema and culture. 4 words. “Bharat Maata ki JAI!”, posted Deverakonda.

The film begins where the 2025 blockbuster of the same name ended, featuring Ranveer Singh as the lead character alongside an ensemble cast that includes Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun, among others. It was an immediate box office success. It has, however, remained a controversial and trending topic since its release in December last year, with some dubbing the film as “propaganda.”

Redefining modern filmmaking

Reviews and wishes for Dhurandhar: The Revenge had started pouring in from early morning on 18 March, leading up to the paid previews.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma was among the first to share his views of the film.

“After last night’s watch of Dhurandhar 2 in terms of its sheer cumulative impact in every which way, whether on its expected collections, audience euphoria, social influences, cinematic grammar breaking, and above all the psychological audio visual impact, it will be a Sholay x 100 level magnificence and is bound to make all the greatest films made so far starting from Mughal-E -Azam onwards look like TV serials,” wrote the Rangeela (1995) director.

The director also urged Hollywood filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan to “drop everything” and catch the film on its opening day.

Film trade analyst and critic Sumit Kadel also penned a long note on his X account about the sequel and its impact on the Hindi film industry.

He wrote that while Hindi cinema has supported movies across languages, over the past few years, some critics from other film industries in the country have resorted to demeaning and slanderous comments.

“The box office performance of Dhurandhar shut them up, and now, looking at the historic advance booking of Dhurandhar 2 and the kind of crazy business it is going to do, many will be losing sleep, and some might even go into a coma,” Kadel said.

“Never underestimate anyone and never mock someone’s tough phase. The most beautiful thing about time is that it always changes.” He gave the film 4.5 stars.
