New Delhi: The counting for the Karnataka polls kicked off at 8 am and early trends have shown the Congress surging ahead of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 107 seats, while the incumbent BJP had an edge in 86 seats.
The Janata Dal (Secular), a former Congress ally, was trailing behind in a distant third place, leading on only 27 seats of 224 assembly seats in the state.
