New Delhi: With the counting of votes for the 2024 assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir underway, ThePrint brings you comprehensive LIVE coverage.

The BJP is leading in Haryana, despite most exit polls predicting that the Congress was set to comfortably form the government in the state and end the BJP’s run that has lasted a decade. Nearly every pollster gave the Congress above 50 seats, while a few even predicted that the party may end up with over 60 seats in the 90-member assembly.

In J&K, which is seeing its first assembly election after the abrogation of Article 370, the National Conference (NC) and the Congress are ahead.

In the Union territory, most pollsters predicted a hung House, with a clear edge to the NC and Congress alliance. The BJP, which was hoping to gain that edge on the back of a commanding performance in the Jammu region after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, was predicted to not register any marked gain in its tally compared to the 2014 assembly polls.

  1. Would there ever be a discussion on Print or anywhere else where ‘experts’ discuss how they got the exit polls wrong? Is there no accountability for bad predictions in this country? If they get it right they gloat, if they get it wrong, they blame everything including EC. Yet people with opinions and very little knowledge of mathematics or science are allowed to run amok and spew their propoganda on channels. Democracy is a myth as long as folks like Yogendra Yadav get to continuously ‘educate’ the masses, inspite of getting stuff wrong.
