New Delhi: Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and even Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are all doing better than Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal and Kerala in fiscal health, according to NITI Aayog’s latest Fiscal Health Index report.
In its report, NITI Aayog evaluated states on expenditure quality, revenue mobilisation, fiscal prudence, debt index and debt sustainability. It categorised states as achiever, front runner, performer and aspirational to show how they are faring.
Madhya Pradesh topped in expenditure quality, while Jharkhand triumphed in fiscal prudence. Goa outperformed others in revenue mobilization, while Odisha performed best in debt index.
