The Statue of Unity Show and Ms.Ruhi Tewari ‘s story have raised many curiosities and questions for all of us !
In light of the author’s quoting Mr.Narendra Modi as saying,” We are criticised even for praising great men like Sardar Patel. We are made to to feel that we have committed a big crime.” itself crops up many soul-searching question marks !
Does not it reflect a sense of gulit on the part of the Prime Minister who has been so popular a figure abroad winning kudos in the countries he has visited so far ?
Is it not a matter of deep introspection for NaMo that people in his own country flay him for praising greatmen instead of lauding this fine gesture ? Why has the PM been constrained to go to the extreme extent of saying,”We are made to….. committed a crime” on this solemn occasion ?
Does not he discriminate among greatmen of the nation by not rising above personal likes-dislikes considerations and petty vote bank politics as well as party considerations ?
Although NaMo deserves all credit for naming this statue of Sardar Vallabhai Patel as ” Statue of Unity ” yet at the sametime, he should also not leave any stone unturned to ensure unity in the nation in the letter and spirit !
But ironically , is this mission of unity not displaying big chinks in the armour of the CBI, CVC,RAW,Enforcement Directorate, Reserve Bank Of India etc. and a lot more institutions?
Could not Sardar Patel have been offered respect and accolades, had austerity factor too been kept in view so far as exorbitant spending on the project is concerned ? Could not the amount so saved have been spent on some public welfare measures ?
Thus could not have many birds been killed with just one stone ?
Then the learned author has made mention of the twin factors of BJP’s internal dynamics and leaving a legacy behind, I am of the opinion that the august office of PM NaMo is gracing, is of India not of any party or organisation ? Should not it be expected of him as the PM of nation to embrace objectivity, decencies, magnanimity and truth to leave a legacy behind ?
The media seems to have totally ignored today’s ad in newspaper announcing unveiling of Tallest statute of Sardar Patel by PM has insulted him by comparing the size of his statute with other such statutes. Sardar cannot be compared as his stature is much taller.
