Lord Meghnad Desai holds a BA and MA in Economics from Mumbai University and obtained his PhD at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2008, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan Award, the third-highest civilian award in the Republic of India.. Desai is a member of the House of Lords. He has authored or edited 20 books, has written over 200 articles for academic journals, and contributes to newspapers across the UK and India.
