With PM Modi’s remarks to Christopher Luxon, India has officially flagged anti-India Sikh groups in New Zealand, and opened a new frontier of concern beyond Canada and the US. NZ is emerging as a new hotspot for Sikh immigrants. Radical elements are a moving target; India mustn’t drop its vigil.

State budgets show that once freebies win elections, bill of ‘bad economics’ must be paid

Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh budgets show how profligate populism eventually has to face reality. Each of these states has refrained from expanding freebies this year, faced with mounting debt and exhausted coffers. Once ‘good politics’ of freebies wins the election, the bill of ‘bad economics’ inevitably needs paying.

  1. Separatist sentiment in elements of the diaspora is one facet. Till recently, there was satisfaction that there is calm in Punjab, Now some tough news coming from the state as well,. 2. On a lighter note, if the government wants thoughtful inputs on Punjab, the Editor is always there.
