Jaishankar’s call for multi-alignment is pragmatic. Given the shifting behaviour of close allies, it’s only fair to ask who India should truly align with. His stance reflects a clear-eyed reading of today’s fractured reality of even the most enduring and deep partnerships faltering. And hence, strategic flexibility is a must.
Security, position couldn’t protect CJI Gavai. Religious conservatism is above law and order
All the security, position couldn’t protect CJI BR Gavai from being reminded that he is a Dalit. That a lawyer hurled a shoe at him, citing ‘Sanatan Dharma’, and not express regret, says a lot about the impunity ‘hurt sentiment’ enjoys today. Religious conservatism is now above law and order.

Semantics aside, does this not validate Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s policy of Non alignment.
The lawyer who threw the shoe should be prosecuted for …
Bad aim!!
Hi,
On the incident involving the CJI, your edit seems to believe the same to be done to show the CJI that he is a Dalit.
This is blatantly mischievous; the lawyer is on record to say, it was a case of hurt religious sentiments.
Trying to replace the actual point with lazy & rusty left-liberal beliefs makes for a poor edit in this case.
Have the guts to concede, that majority religious beliefs can be hurt too.
If minorities have in the past, expressed hurt through vandalism, this has been just a shoe. And it could be any one of us at the receiving end, not necessarily a CJI, whatever his community.
And the CJI need not have twisted the knife. Would he be so gutsy with minority religious beliefs ?
It’s all ok . But why you bring cji dalit credentials ? He was insulted because of his statement not for his identity . Don’t do politics do journalism. ( I am also a dalit ) S
