India’s Q3 GDP growth, at a 27-quarter low of 4.7%, indicates that economic slowdown has worsened and talk of green shoots was premature. With the onset of the coronavirus likely to cause further disruption in economic activity and supply chains globally, economic recovery will be slower and possibly more painful.

  1. I am actually confused , certain commentators say that the slow down persist if, not
    worsening;while others like TN Ninan are claiming that the slowdown has bottomed out.

  2. Everything becomes a political debate. Cyclical vs structural. Green shoots. Not acknowledging for a very long time that there is an economic slowdown, although to many Indians it feels more like a crisis. A little modesty and humility might work where hubris and exceptionalism have not.
