PM Modi’s visit to Bangladesh, the agreements and sentiments indicate a genuine attempt is being made to reboot the relationship. Dhaka’s reminder to implement the long-pending Teesta water-sharing treaty, however, shows more needs to be done. Bengal and Delhi need to overcome domestic politics, build consensus and end this logjam.
