Tens of thousands of protesters have flooded Bangladesh’s streets, amid a teetering economy that is shaking the foundations of three-time Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s regime. New Delhi sees Hasina as a bulwark against Islamists. Failure to hold free elections, though, will empower the communal forces she has long held back.
