Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot’s personal attacks on his former deputy, Sachin Pilot — who he also described as ‘nikamma’ — are deplorable. The Gandhi family’s stated desire for reconciliation seems hypocritical as it silently watches the vilification campaign against Pilot. Gehlot’s frustration is understandable but civility in political discourse is a must.

  1. Rajasthan is a Hindi speaking state, also the land of princes. It should be a pleasure to listen to the elegant, refined speech of its CM, with decades in the upper reaches of public life. Ms Tavleen Singh has suggested an improvement in linguistic skills, also a less scruffy look. A crumpled kurta pyjama, careless chappals, one thought Mr Gehlot had just woken up in the morning and strolled into Raj Bhavan.
