Supreme Court redeems itself by tossing out SBI’s mockery of its electoral bonds order. Journalists and activists will now draw the links between donors and recipients. It’s regrettable how India’s oldest and most respected bank brought this embarrassment upon itself. SBI should return to staid old banking and forget politics.

BJP’s Anantkumar Hegde has given a new twist to the party’s 400-seat goal, saying that it’s to change Constitution. A lawmaker who thinks Constitution is distorted to oppress Hindus doesn’t deserve to enter Parliament. Calling it his personal view isn’t good enough. The least he deserves is unequivocal condemnation, suspension.

Good that Modi government has shed a decade of political and ideological resistance and finally signed $100 bn free trade deal with four European nations. Overcoming the RSS and swadeshis’ chronic suspicion of trade is a big positive. Now shed old diffidence about trade and fastrack the FTA with UK.
