The meat sale ban by some Maharashtra civic bodies on Independence Day is excessive, inexplicable. BJP’s argument — that a Congress government introduced the ban — doesn’t make it right. To connect meat-eating with patriotism is beyond reason, even when the government is making a habit of wading into people’s food habits.
