As America deports illegal Indian immigrants, India’s handling of unauthorised Bangladeshi migrants in Assam is tardy. Supreme Court has raised important questions about the state’s silence. Even illegal migrants have rights, and can’t be kept in detention centres indefinitely. Both Assam and Centre must end this limbo—deport or release.
