SubscriberWrites: Why did India lose the World Test Championship final?

It’s high time we train ourselves mentally to play in knockout games, improve our temperament, get team selection right and most importantly play fearless and flamboyant cricket.

Thank you dear subscribers, we are overwhelmed with your response.

Have we watched this before?

We lost in the minds way before we stepped onto the ground for the supposedly most important match of the test format in the world of test cricket: the ultimate test.

The toss was a pleasant one. It was all downhill from there. The body language cold, the minds lethargic, the bowling average, the fielding mundane and the batting ….the less spoken about it the better.

Seven players repeated from the finals 2 years ago. Conservative team selection, hackneyed approach and paucity of ideas led to our downfall. And haven’t we seen that already in the last final. So what did we learn or apply differently this time around?

Nothing.

It’s a disgrace to watch our team surrender so meekly. We didn’t even fight. If we can’t bat for one full day in a test match in spite of having abundance of experience and pedigree to boast off we really don’t deserve to win. Lack of will and courage to play and win in knockout games. This is what it looks like.

It’s high time we train ourselves mentally to play in knockout games, improve our temperament, get team selection right and most importantly play fearless and flamboyant cricket. Enjoy the game and play positively and the results will follow. Bold results demand bold choices to be made. It’s time we make some.

Kudos to the Aussies for proving it time and again why they are the champions of the game in all formats and have always been.
